DRESS CODE
UNIFORMS FOR CHILDREN'S CLASSES
Our Dress Code Uniform has Option A and Option B via the links below.
Any student may wear whichever option they choose, but they must wear all items from that option.
(i.e. they can't wear ballet shoes from option A and pants from option B)

***We have sizing kits for leotards and shoes at the studio if your child is new to dance and you are unsure of their size. These dance shoes are typically 2 sizes larger than street shoes.***

General Notes

Ballet - pink or skin tone tights are required; please no black tights

Tights MUST be dance tights - not dress tights that your dancer wears under a special occasion dress.

Tap shoes for ages 7 and under MUST be velcro. No ribbon tie tap shoes.

Wrap skirts that tie are not permitted for any classes EXCEPT pointe class (older students)

Ballet shoes must be pink for girls and black for boys. Please see the dress code lists via the links below for details.

Students in AcroTumble MUST wear a leotard with shorts/leggings or biketard. Baggy t-shirts are not permitted.

All hair must be pulled back away from the face. Buns are required for ballet and pointe classes.

In an effort to keep your dancer safe, they may be asked to sit and observe class if they are not properly dressed for class

Undergarments should not be visible at the bottom of a leotard, and most dancers choose not to wear underwear under their tights and leotards. If you do need to wear them, please wear a neutral/skin color with a higher cut leg.

Adolescent and adult dancers may need additional support in the form of a dance bra, a sports bra, or for gentlemen a dance belt (like an athletic cup, but without the hard plastic). We’d be happy to connect you with resources about sizing.

Students must enter and exit the building with street shoes and a cover-up over leotards and tights. Dancers MAY NOT wear their uncovered dance uniform or dance shoes when entering/exiting the building.

Please leave jewelry at home. Necklaces, bracelets, Apple Watches, rings, and dangling earrings are not allowed to be worn during class as a safety measure. Studs in the ears are fine. No Apple Watches are allowed. Please leave those at home as they can be a distraction during class.

Please label your dancers’ shoes, bags, etc. with their name. Personal belongings are to be kept in cubbies provided.

You may wear tan tights or pink tights under your leotard, but not required

Bike shorts may not be “booty” shorts. Please have appropriate coverage.

BOYS: Black basketball shorts or joggers; black fitted tank top or fitted t-shirt

NO baggy t-shirts or baggy shorts. NO midriffs. NO leotards by itself.

GIRLS: solid colored t-shirt/tank (no graphics/pics and no half tops), solid black bike shorts or leggings, solid black joggers are okay in colder months; no “booty” shorts, no cheer shorts, and no short shorts that are baggy around the leg opening. If undergarments or body parts are visible, then the shorts are not permitted

BOYS: solid colored t-shirt (no graphics), solid black fitted joggers or black basketball shorts

ALL: CLEAN, Non-scuff sneakers (bring a separate pair of clean-bottom sneakers for class so that you don’t bring dirt/mud/rocks onto the dance floor)
