CLASS UNIFORMS (DRESS CODE)

​All BALLET CLASSES are required to purchase the appropriate leotard

in the assigned color on our NIMBLY website

​

***We have sizing kits for leotards and shoes at the studio if your child is new to dance and you are unsure of their size. On our Dress Code website, Nimbly, dance shoes are typically 2 sizes larger than street shoes.***

DRESS CODE DETAILS

 

General Notes​

  • If items on the dress code list are backordered please contact us for assistance.

  • Undergarments should not be visible at the bottom of a leotard, and most dancers choose not to wear underwear under their tights and leotards. If you do need to wear them, please wear a flesh colored bottom with a higher cut leg.

  • HAIR/JEWELRY

    • ​All hair must be pulled back away from the face. Buns are REQUIRED for ballet and pointe classes.

    • Please leave jewelry at home. Necklaces, bracelets, Apple Watches, rings, and dangling earrings are not allowed to be worn during class as a safety measure. Studs in the ears are fine. No Apple Watches are allowed. Please leave those at home as they can be a distraction during class.

  • SAFETY

    • In an effort to keep your dancer safe, they may be asked to sit and observe class if they are not properly dressed for class

    • Students must enter and exit the building with street shoes and a cover-up over leotards and tights. Dancers MAY NOT wear their uncovered dance uniform or dance shoes when entering/exiting the building. 

  • Please label your dancers’ shoes, bags, etc. with their name. Personal belongings are to be kept in cubbies provided.​

MINI MOVERS, TWINKLE TOTS, SHINING STARS

  • GIRLS

    • Leotard:

      • Any color leotard with ATTACHED skirt OR 

      • Any color leotard with a PULL ON skirt (no skirts that tie please!)

    • Pink or Flesh Tone (for darker skin tones) DANCE tights free from holes/runs

    • No Tie Pink or Flesh Tone Ballet Shoes

    • Black Velcro Tap Shoes (no laces and no ribbons please)

  • BOYS

    • Solid black or white t-shirt

    • Solid black joggers or fitted basketball style shorts

    • Black ballet shoes

    • Black tap shoes

 

​​BALLET CLASSES

All Ballet Classes have a required COLOR leotard from Nimbly as their UNIFORM and required type of shoes. All items are available on our Nimbly Dress Code Website via the links provided below. The specific leotard is NOT optional and cannot be purchased on Amazon or another site as the colors do not match.

  • Tights - Pink or Flesh Tone Convertible Tights

  • Shoes - Pink or Flesh Tone Split Sole Canvas Ballet Shoes (specified on Nimbly)

  • Leotard - 

    • RISING STARS BALLET (Tues 4:30pm and Weds 6:30pm) - link to Nimbly

      • Nimbly Leotard (*required*) in MULBERRY 

      • No sports bras allowed

    • BRIGHT STARS BALLET (Weds 5:30pm) - link to Nimbly

      • Nimbly Leotard (*required*) in TEAL

      • No sports bras allowed. Please check with instructor for options if your dancer feels they need extra material or coverage in addition to the already lined leotard.

    • SHOOTING STARS BALLET (Weds 6:00pm) - link to Nimbly​

      • Nimbly Leotard (*required*) in RED

      • No sports bras allowed. Please check with instructor for options if your dancer feels they need extra material or coverage in addition to the already lined leotard.

    • SUPER STARS BALLET (Weds 7:00pm) - link to Nimbly

      • Nimbly Leotard (*required*) in BLACK

      • Sports bras are only permitted with specific styles of leotard. Please check with your instructor.

    • TEEN BALLET (Tues 6:30pm) - link to Nimbly 

      • Nimbly Leotard (*required*) in NAVY BLUE​

      • Sports bras are only permitted with specific styles of leotard. Please check with your instructor.

OTHER STYLE CLASSES

CONTEMPORARY, JAZZ, MUSICAL THEATRE, TAP, AND ACROTUMBLE - link to Nimbly

  • GIRLS

    • Leotard in BLACK or the color for your Ballet level with one of the following:

      • Solid BLACK Bike Shorts (over the leotard)

      • Solid BLACK Leggings (over the leotard)

      • Pink or Flesh Tone tights (under the leotard) - tights only OR you can put shorts/leggings over them

    • ​​Solid BLACK biketard is an option, too

Tights under your leotard are optional as long as you have bike shorts or leggings on.

Dancers who have back to back classes where one is ballet, may put shorts or leggings over leotard and ballet tights.​

  • BOYS

    • Solid BLACK basketball shorts or joggers

    • Solid BLACK fitted tank top or fitted t-shirt

    • NO baggy t-shirts or baggy shorts. 

  • FOOTWEAR FOR ALL  

    • Jazz/Musical Theatre - TAN/FLESH TONE Split Sole Jazz Shoes (on Nimbly OR Bloch Pulse)

    • Contemporary - Barefoot

    • Tap - BLACK Full Sole Tap Shoe

      • Rising Stars can choose the tap shoe on NIMBLY on their dress code list

      • All other tap levels must have BLOCH RESPECT tap shoes in black OR JSAMS.

    • Acrotumble - Barefoot

THE FOLLOWING ARE NOT PERMITTED

  1. Bike shorts that are “booty” shorts or Loose fitting cheer shorts. Please have appropriate coverage.

  2. Wrapping “tie” skirts that need to be tied on the side. Only pointe students may wear wrap tie skirts.

  3. NO midriffs and NO leotards without tights or shorts/leggings

 

HIP HOP - ALL LEVELS

  • GIRLS 

    • SOLID COLORED t-shirt/tank (no graphics/pics and no half tops) 

    • SOLID BLACK leggings or black joggers (NO SHORTS)

      • ***no “booty” shorts, no loose-fitting cheer style shorts or Lulu shorts, and no short shorts that are baggy around the leg opening. If undergarments or body parts are visible, then the shorts are not permitted***

    • CLEAN bottom, Non-scuff sneakers (bring a separate pair of clean-bottom sneakers for class so that you don’t damage the marley floor)

  • BOYS 

    • SOLID COLORED t-shirt (no graphics)

    • SOLID BLACK fitted joggers or sweatpants

    • CLEAN bottom, Non-scuff sneakers( bring a separate pair of clean-bottom sneakers for class so that you don’t damage the marley floor)
